ARLINGTON -- Richard Vance Smith, 65, a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012.
Funeral: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Inurnment: Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.

Richard was born May 20, 1947 in Ft. Worth. He was raised in Mansfield by his grandparents, Hal and Edith Gwinn.
Richard served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star recipient.
Richard worked at Shelton's Beauty Salon in Arlington for 37 years.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
Richard is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Virginia Gwinn Harlan.
Survivors: Wife, Cecelia Smith; Sons, Tracee Smith and Ryan Smith and wife, Kristy; brother, David Harlan and wife, Joan; sister, Pat Dunnahoo and husband, Mike; granddaughters, Tobie and Drew Smith; and numerous family members and friends.
