Richard Sterling Holland

d. August 4, 2020

Richard Sterling Holland was a resident of Arlington, Texas since 1956 when he moved here with his family from Big Bear, California. He was born on April 18, 1948 and went to be with the Lord on August 4, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Helen Bachle, father, James Leon Holland, and older brother, Jim. He is survived by his younger brother, Steven Christopher Holland. He is also survived and was loved deeply by his mother-in-law, Geraldine Cornwell Zummer. He leaves behind his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 52 years, Jana Cornwell Holland, and they resided in her childhood home. He was Daddy to one daughter, Kristi, and father-in-law to Edward Johnston. He was Pop Pop to two beautiful grandchildren, Jake Edward, 8 and Sterling Haleigh, 10, whom he adored above all others. His automotive career spanned decades, beginning at Vandergriff Chevrolet Parts Department at the age of 18. From there, he ventured into the Automotive Aftermarket Industry as Regional Sales Manager for many years. He began his own antique auto supply and car restoration, Classic Parts of Arlington, in 1986. Over the span of many years, he restored and rebuilt many classic cars, with some being showcased and winning awards. He loved NASCAR and took great pride in his massive Disney Goofy collection. His knowledge and passion for what he was able to do on a daily basis was exceeded only by his love for his family. He closed his business and retired in 2014. He was described by many that knew him as just a “really good guy.” His most remarkable personality characteristic was the fact he never met a stranger. His deep love for his family and animals was shown in every facet of his life. His heart was as big as Texas. His talents were many, and his ability to make or fix anything was evident in his everyday life. His absence will be forever felt by many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
