ARLINGTON -- Richard J. "Dick" Reid, 91, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, in Arlington.
Service: Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington, Father James Gigliotti, T.O.R., celebrant. Interment: Calvary Hill Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be given to Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 5801 Mount Carmel Drive, Arlington, Texas 76017; Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, Box 2144, Fort Worth, Texas 76133, or a charity of choice.
Dick was born March 4, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wis., to James J. Reid and Anna Rundt Reid. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Corps. A resident of Arlington for the past 50 years, he retired as sales manager for Pabst Brewery. Dick was a member of Glen Garden Golf and Country Club, Knights of Columbus, and was a devout member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, SMG Leisure Club and choir. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Ott Reid, in 1992; and son, Richard R. Reid in 1978.
Survivors: His devoted wife of 16 years, Columba "Duddie" J. Reid; sons, Ronald R. Reid (Ellen), Ross R. Reid (Le), Robert R. Reid (Debra); stepson, Michael J. Stayart (Pam); sister, Jane Prosen; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
