Richard Gutierrez Montez

In loving memory of Richard Gutierrez Montez, it is with profound sadness that we share the news of his passing on August 30, 2023, at the age of 59. Richard, a long haul truck driver and beloved member of the community, resided in Arlington, TX 76016.

Born on July 16, 1964, Richard was the beloved son of Estevan and Carolina Montez. He shared a strong and enduring bond with his spouse, Deborah Bejil, whom he married on June 16, 1984, after meeting in high school.

Richard had a passion for his career as a truck driver, working tirelessly in the freight and oil field industries. Eventually, he ventured into entrepreneurship, acquiring his own rig and becoming a successful owner-operator. In his free time, Richard cherished riding his motorcycle and spending quality moments with his family and friends. With an infectious sense of humor, Richard warmly welcomed everyone into his circle, forging lifelong friendships along the way. He also found solace in the serene act of fishing.

Richard is preceded in death by his father Estevan Montez, sister Diana Montez Cadena, brother-in-law Alfred Jimmy Bejil, and father-in-law Alfredo Bejil.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Deborah Bejil; their loving son, Richard Montez Jr.; cherished daughter, Brandi Montez Thomas, and her husband, Ames; and three adoring grandsons, Phillip, Samuel, and Ethan Thomas. Richard will forever be cherished by his mother, Carolina Montez, as well as his siblings, Jim Montez, Alicia Montez, Maria Sosa and her husband, Armando, and George Montez and his wife, Liz. His favorite aunt, Francis G. Martinez (Tia Kika), holds many precious memories of their time together. Richard also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will deeply miss him.

Funeral services for Richard Gutierrez Montez will be held on September 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, where friends, family, and acquaintances can gather to pay their respects. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place at Wade Family Funeral Home on September 10, 2023, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary ceremony commencing at 7:00 pm. Following the funeral service, Richard will be laid to rest in the Millsap Cemetery, 510 Palo Pinto Street, Millsap, Texas, 76066.

During this difficult time, countless individuals have been touched by Richard’s kindness, charisma, and zest for life. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed. May his soul find eternal peace.
