Richard Gene Farrell

February 24, 1923 — November 18, 2014

PANTEGO -- Dick Farrell, 91, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, in Pantego. The Lord called the most loving husband and father home. Celebration of life: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 8, at the White Room, 2227 W. Park Row, Arlington. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Wounded Warriors. Dick was the youngest and last surviving sibling of 14. He was born Feb. 24, 1923, on a ranch outside Loving, N.M. Dick joined the United States Air Force when he was only 18. He went to flight school and became one of America's finest fighter pilots during World War II. All of those close to Dick had the privilege of hearing all of the wonderful war stories; as he tells it, he won the war. That's the story we are all sticking to. After the war, Dick married the love of his life, Tommie. He enrolled in the engineering program at New Mexico State University. He had much success raising his family in Dallas while commuting to Pantego. As a land developer, he built the family business of Lakewood Center and mini storage units. Pantego is where they eventually made their home in 1972 and where he retired. For all those who knew this wonderful man, they loved, admired and respected him. Dick always said that he had lived a storybook life and fairytale marriage of almost 69 years. Dick will be forever missed and greatly loved. Dad, we thank you for unconditional love, giving us great joy, love and always making us feel secure. You are the reflection of God's gifts and love. For a small man of stature, you are a giant to us. Godspeed. Survivors: Childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 68 years, Alice "Tommie" Farrell; children, Kitty, Rick and Annie; grandsons, Jason and Craig; great-grandson, Landon; his little dog, Samantha; and many more relatives and friends. Wade Family Funeral Home Arlington, 817-274-9233
