Richard Dudley Mcclintock

October 22, 1954 — August 4, 2021

Richard Dudley McClintock passed away on August 4th, 2021, surrounded by family. In his final moment, he shared a smile with Noreen, his wife of 41 of his 66 years. Those who knew Rich can't help but smile while talking about him. He lived with joy. He was Richie to his parents, Elizabeth and Paul McClintock and younger brothers Paul and Joe McClintock. Born October 22nd, 1954 in Orange, New Jersey, he later followed in his father's footsteps, attending William and Mary University where he was on the track team. He received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Seton Hall University in 1976. He was Dad to Megan Ogle and husband Matt Ogle, Ryan McClintock and wife Megan McClintock, Tim McClintock and wife Alyssa McClintock, and Caitlin Least and husband Riley Least. His relationship with each child was intentional and individual, and he was always just a phone call away. He was Dud to his seven grandchildren Olivia Ogle, Grayson Ogle, Caleb Ogle, Evelyn McClintock, Jane McClintock, Warren McClintock and Ethan McClintock. And when he was behind the wheel of his beloved red boat, he was Captain Dud, naturally. Rich was steady, calm and kind. He got angry so rarely, that when he did it warranted a nickname from his family—Red Rich. Red Rich was quick to forgive and forget. Around Christmas, all were treated to an appearance by Holiday Rich, a somehow even more joyful version of Rich. Rich earned the nickname Teenagent when he became a Special Agent for the FBI at the youngest age possible. Over his 28-year career, he was compassionate and fair. To quote one colleague, “even the people Rich put in jail liked him.” He had recently retired, not so he could play golf, but so he could give his time to help others. He became an advocate for children in the foster care system with CASA and volunteered at the Storehouse Food pantry. While he had many names and nicknames, all remember Rich as a man of faith and love who wanted to help and serve. When Noreen asked anything of Rich, he would playfully quote The Princess Bride in response: “As you wish.” He may have been joking, but he meant it. “So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:22
