Rica Inez Salam

On April 10th, 1961, Rica was born to David and Delores Mason. She was the 2nd of 4 children. Rica grew up in Los Angeles, CA very much the tomboy. Running track, playing basketball and tennis were just a few of her hobbies. Very much the competitor, Rica despised losing at anything. Although Rica was the 2nd born, she was always looked upon as the mentor of the family. In her early life, Rica learned two things above all else, to be a leader from her father David, and the importance of putting Jesus Christ first from her mother Delores. In her early adulthood, Rica was left with little boys after a difficult relationship with her 1st husband ended. While she had many influencers in her ear, advising her that she could not make it out in the world as a single parent of two, she trusted God and took the path of the single mother. It was during this time where Rica truly showed everyone what a God fearing, strong willed, special person she was. She took on the role of mother, father, teacher, friend, pastor and leader while never letting the stress overtake her. Rica never let life become to great for her and always trusted God to pave the way for her. At times, she would need to work two jobs to make sure her children were taken care of. Although there wasn't much of abundance during this time of her life, love wasn't one of them as she and her boys became the tight knit loving family. There were many moves around the state of CA from Los Angeles, to Lancaster, to Sun City, to Murrieta as opportunities would arise. She found a job she lover very much at the Professional Golfers Career College (PGCC) as an administrator. She was able to work with people which is what she loved to do best. It was at the PGCC which gave her the opportunity to move to Texas and eventually meet the person who would change her life forever. On 12/28/2001, Rica would meet Ahmed Salam, who would become the love of her life. The two would spend almost an endless amount of time together and would marry on 12/28/2002. They would have a small wedding at their home where Rica would spend the rest of her life. After their union, Rica and Ahmed would share eight children together. These years would truly be the happiest times of Rica's life. She would rarely not have a mile on her face as Ahmed would do anything to make his wife happy. Ahmed made sure to keep Rica smiling and she was always made sure to keep it on. Even when she was sick, she always had a smile on her face thanks to her husband, Ahmed. Rica would never let her illness get the better of her and was making her plans from retiring to Panama, to what she would be preparing for the upcoming Thanksgiving. This “Life of an Angel” has no end, because Rica's life is not over. Although she has gone to a place we can not follow, she has surely started on the next chapter of her life which doesn't include pain and illness. You will be missed my mother, Rica Salam, but I don't believe for one moment that your life should include and ending here.
