Raymond (Ray) Furtner of Pantego, TX, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at the age of 89 to an everlasting life in Heaven to be with God.
Funeral: Saturday, January 8 at 10 am in the chapel of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. A private burial will take place the following week at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois. He served five years in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan, where he met his beloved wife, Terry, in 1953. Ray enjoyed a professional career as a computer Field Engineer. Since his retirement, Ray was active in volunteer work at his church, taught at Tarrant County College, and was involved in Pantego town support activities. He was a member of the Kiwanis Six Flags Sunrise Club and Knights of Columbus, and he served as a Director for the Arlington Alliance for Youth.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Terry, after 63 years of marriage, their young son William, his brother Ed, and his sister-in-law Jane.
Survivors: Ray is survived by his three daughters, Frances (Steve), Ann (Ki), and Laura (Jeff); grandsons Joe (Michaelene), Garett (Hannah), Andrew (Tori), and Sam (Jaden); one great-grandson, Brendan; and close family friends Justin and Harina Yoon and Shannon Giammarco.
