ARLINGTON -- Raymond Jack Swaim, 88, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington with Pastor David Hargrove officiating. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane C. Visitation: 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Northwest Christian Church, 1001 N. Davis, Arlington, Texas 76012. He was born April 23, 1925 in Fort Worth, Texas to the late William Robert, Sr. and Maude Lee (Hoobler) Swaim. On January 19, 1945, he married the love of his life, Betty Lou Scott. They lived many places in the world while Jack served in the United States Air Force as a pilot. He also designed bomb racks and was awarded for his effort. After Jack retired from the Air Force in 1965, they made their home in Arlington, Texas. Jack earned a bachelor of science from Oklahoma State University in mechanical engineering. Jack used his degree to begin a second career in engineering, designing aircraft components, printing presses and mobile oil drilling rigs. Jack's love of aircraft was life-long. He spent many hours building and racing model airplanes. His favorite pastimes always involved his children and grandchildren. Jack was preceded in death by his brother, William Robert, Jr. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Betty; three sons, Jim (Susie) of Arlington, John Scott of North Carolina and Mark (Kathy) of Grapevine; a sister, Betty Ann Ball of Cleburne; and five grandchildren, Irene, Kevin, Bryon (Bethany), Nicole and Eric.
