Rayford “Ray” Cosby Thompson passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 85.
Ray was born in Montgomery, Alabama on October 22, 1937 to George Rayford Thompson and Lois Juanita (Smith) Thompson. While working maintenance at an apartment complex in the early 1970’s, he met Brenda Riley. Brenda was the love of his life and they married in 1974. After brief stints living in Dallas and Grand Prairie, they lived together in Arlington for the last 43 years.
Ray was an accomplished electrician. He worked for Frito Lay and could perform maintenance on virtually any kind of machine. He also ran delivery routes for Hostess and Pepperidge Farms products. Ray loved watching football on TV, especially the Dallas Cowboys and his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide!
Ray was preceded in death by his parents George Rayford Thompson and Lois Juanita Thompson as well as his former wife Virginia Hamilton.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda; daughters Sandra Kellar and Pamela Holter; grandchildren Brittney Traylor, Kevin Hornsby, Amanda Kellar, and Amber Jones; great grandchildren Caden Traylor, Chase Linthicum, Lexi Jones, Cameron Kellar, and Ali Hornsby.
Ray had a great sense of humor and loved to talk to anyone. He enjoyed a very happy life and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
