Randy Euel Allen

Randy Euel Allen was born on March 1, 1949, in Malden, Missouri to Isobel Irene and Euel Talmadge Allen. On October 27, 2022, Randy went to meet his maker joining his mother, father, sister Carolyn and brother Joe in heaven.

As a child, Randy moved with his family from Missouri to California then to Oregon before finally landing in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where he called home and spent most of his years growing up. As a young child, he committed his life to Christ and became known to many as the “preacher man” because of the loving Christian nature he showed to others. He loved the Lord, football, cars and wrestling. After graduating from Steamboat Springs High School, he went on to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado on a wrestling scholarship where he began studying psychology. He left college to join the Marines in 1967. Randy honorably served his country overseas in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1969.

A few years after returning from Vietnam, he moved to Texas where he met his wife and soulmate, Deborah Joyce McCown. They married in March of 1972 and welcomed their first child Brandon Euel in 1976, followed by their first daughter Rachel Joy in 1979 and Lauren Gayle in 1980. Together they raised their family in their home on Westchester surrounded by wonderful neighbors who quickly became dear friends. On March 10, 2022, they celebrated 50 years of love and marriage.

Through the years, Randy enjoyed professions in the car and then commercial real estate businesses. The list of his talents and interests stretches far and wide. He loved riding motorcycles, woodworking and furniture making and playing the guitar and piano. He could often be found camping or working on one of his classic cars. Randy had a knack for thinking up new business ideas and giving them just the right name and slogan. He also loved to give affectionate nicknames to his family and friends. He was an artist and enjoyed calligraphy, window lettering and doodle art (specifically on restaurant napkins and takeout boxes). Countless hours were spent playing cards and board games with his parents and children. You could count on him kicking off summer with his famous flattop haircut and planning a trip to the Steamboat house with his family. He loved supporting the Denver Broncos, even making a window sign that could be seen driving by the house that read “John Elway for President”. (He did eventually convert and become a Cowboys fan.) He would watch hours of Seinfeld and westerns and listen tirelessly to Dr.Phil and NPR. While he became known for his weekly pizza deliveries and Sunday donut drops at kids’ houses, he also enjoyed cooking his “Randy” burgers or making a pot of his famous secret recipe Fall Harvest soup.

But above all these things, Randy loved his family. He devoted his life to caring and providing for them. Comforting them and making them laugh. Being their hero and best friend. Family was everything to Randy. Prior to becoming sick with Lewy Body Dementia, Randy and Debbie selflessly devoted 10 years to caring for Randy’s aging parents as they became ill. His love and respect for his parents, his wife, his children, and their spouses and his 9 grandchildren is unmatched.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, E.T. and Isobel Allen, sister Carolyn Arlington, brother Stanely “Joe” Allen and father-in-law Nathan McCown. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Deborah Joyce McCown Allen, their son and daughter in law Brandon and Anissa Allen and their daughter Lula; their daughter and son in law Rachel and JMac Richardson and their children Cole, Hayden, Paxtyn, Lockland, Londyn and Reese; their daughter and son in law Lauren and Josh Houston and their children Gigi and Levi; his mother in law Joyce McCown; his sister and brother in law Sharon and Danny Cink and many additional family and friends.
