ARLINGTON -- R.C. Strickland, 90, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington.

R.C. was born January 19, 1922 in Richland Springs to Rand and Frances Elms Strickland.
He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from Arlington High School and served with distinction as a flight crew member in the South Pacific in 1944-1945. After retiring from the Navy in 1960 he returned to Arlington where he and his wife Hellen owned and operated Strickland Aircraft Service, Inc., their aviation maintenance business. Even after retiring from the business he continued his love of aviation and commitment to safety by helping his many friends with their aircraft and earning the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award for more than fifty years in the industry.
His strength of character and his humor will be sorely missed.
R.C. is preceded in death by his wife, Hellen Maxene Strickland, a brother and 4 sisters.
Survivors: Son, Randy C. Strickland; daughter, Shirley J. Strickland; grandchildren, Gray Strickland and wife, Corie and Kate Ford and husband, Jason; great-grandchildren, Melody, Trinity and Gavin.
