Phyllis was born on October 8, 1935 in Scotts Bluff, Nebraska to Raymond Sherman and Agnes Neeley Sherman. Shortly thereafter she moved to Wyoming where she grew up. When she was a junior in high school she fell in love with Wayne Truitt whom she was married to for 62 years. They traveled the world together making memories that she still knows like the back of her hand. In 1956 she gave birth to Byron Truitt and was involved with all of Byron's activities. When Byron passed away in 1972 she received a new gift from God - all of his friends. She welcomed them in her home every weekend and created the biggest spread of food you could imagine. This also led her to a daughter that she adopted later in life. Judi was a classmate of Byron's and she gained not only a daughter but also an amazing granddaughter Evie and two great-grandchildren. Phyllis was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was very involved with the youth group at her church.
She loved children; they were her passion. Phyllis also loved gardening and working in the yard.
We are so thankful for the blessing it was to be in her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Truitt; son, Byron Truitt; and daughter, Judith Martin.
Survivors: Son-in-law, Gary Martin; sister, Betty Booras; nephew, Raymond Booras and wife, Lee; nieces, Lou Ann Wilson, and husband, Brian and Brenda Lant and husband, Dale; grandchild, Evie Singletary and husband, Joshua; great-grandchildren, Hannah James and Harley Singletary and more bonus “Kids” and grandchildren than you could imagine.
