Philip James Koziolek was born July 25, 1972 in Arlington Texas. He was the second son and the third child of four born to Gerald and Carol Koziolek. He passed away very unexpectedly on September 7, 2021 .
There will be a come and go celebration of Philip's life from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington, Tx. Mask will be required by request of the family. Please be mindful and respectful of their request during this difficult time.
He was a very inquisitive and creative person from the get go. He went to Hill Elementary, Bailey Junior High, and graduated from Arlington High School where he played football in 1990. He then went off to college at Angelo State earning a Bachelor degree in Art in 1995. After a brief stint working at DFW airport he was certified in 1998 to teach art. He began his teaching career at Carter Jr High in Arlington but moved to Mansfield ISD in 2001 to teach at Mansfield High where he remained for the next 20 years. Philip was a great storyteller like his father. He also loved riding his Big Ruckus scooter and to travel, explore, and camp out all across Texas as well as going all over the US. Philip and his canine companion Sophie did much of their camping and traveling with his friend Garry. He enjoyed teaching High School Art and working with his students. He was very creative. He did paintings in his own unique style and put his art work on pendants, magnets, clocks, and Rubik's Cubes. His art has been displayed at the Arts Goggle Festival in Fort Worth, Upstairs Gallery, and several other venues. He was also excited that he was only 2 ½ years from retirement where he planned to live with his dog Sophie in a cabin in the woods painting non-stop. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, fellow teachers, students, and especially Sophie.
He is predeceased by his father Gerald, sister Melissa, and all his grandparents. He is survived by his mother Carol, brother Matt (Susan), sister Nan (Kyle), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested a donation in his memory be made to the Mansfield High School Art Department: 3001 E Broad Street Mansfield Texas 76063. We are sure Philip is now on his next great adventure exploring heaven with his Dad & big sis Melissa.
