Peggy Jean Reid Porter, 74, of Arlington, Texas, passed away surrounded by her family on August 14, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington, Texas.
Peggy and her twin brother, Tommy, were born in McAllen, Texas to Dorothy Pettit Reid and Thomas Lee Reid on October 23, 1944. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1963, and worked as a graphic illustrator for LTV early in her career. Peggy met Randon in 1975 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, where they were married in 1976. The church became an integral part of their life while raising their blended family of 4 girls. Peggy, a signature member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society, was a very talented self-taught, award-winning artist and her many beautiful paintings will honor her memory for years to come. She also founded and owned the first balloon delivery company in the Fort Worth area, called Balloon Occasions, which she successfully operated for years from the dining room of her home in order to be able to continue to stay home with her youngest daughter Erin, who accompanied her on her many balloon deliveries. Peggy was an avid gardener, an amazing cook, a lifelong fan of James Taylor, a lover of sunsets, and of God's beautiful landscapes like those found in Colorado. Peggy's faith in God was central to how she lived her life. She began the ministry of a soup kitchen at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 2007, where she was also in the altar guild and offered her time and talents in any way possible. Peggy also combined her faith with art, as a founding member of Abiding in the Vine Ministries, a religious greeting card company. In 2012, Peggy and Randon joined St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church where she was an Adorer of the Blessed Sacrament, a Social Ministries volunteer, and a member of Morning Joy group. Peggy lived life to the fullest, with authenticity, passion, and courage. Peggy would light up any room she entered, and her loss is profoundly felt.
