ARLINGTON -- Pearl Irene Mackey, 92, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Thursday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Lane A, with Reverend Andy Mangum officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mission Arlington or the Alzheimer's Association.
Pearl was born in Cromwell, Iowa on January 30, 1924, to Edward Orville Cherrington and Margaret Louise Walker. She grew up in a family of four children. Pearl graduated from the University of North Texas (Master of Science in Mathematics) and worked as a high school math teacher at the North Texas Lab School.
Pearl devoted herself to her family, volunteering in the schools, at church, and with scouting. She loved traveling and especially cherished the family's many vacations. She also enjoyed reading and flower gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank Cherrington, Lee Cherrington; one sister, Sara Cherrington; and her devoted husband of 64 years, Benford Brown Mackey.
Survivors: Son, Michael Mackey of Arlington; daughters, Nancy Wolff and husband, Steve of Arlington, Cheryl Jackson and husband, Myron of Euless; grandchildren, Michelle Ekrut, Kristyn Rylander, William Wolff; greatgrandchildren, Caleb Ekrut, James Rylander, Abigail Rylander.
