Paula Marguerette Davault, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, in Mansfield, Texas. Born on May 1, 1931, in True, Texas, to Homer and Bobbie Blancett, Paula’s 92 years were marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community. A proud depression-era girl, she often recalled her humble beginnings with fondness, emphasizing a life rich in love over material wealth. Paula’s journey from the one-room True Elementary School to becoming an inspiring educator herself is a testament to her independent self-reliant spirit and passion for learning.
Paula’s legacy of love, service, and faith leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those she encountered. Her story, from joyful Saturday nights in Olney, TX, to shaping future generations, continues to inspire. Her life, rich in experiences and grounded in love, will be fondly remembered and celebrated by all who knew her.
Attending North Texas College in Denton in 1950, Paula met her soulmate, Buel Vernon Davault, a WWII Navy veteran. Their love story began in a college registration line and flourished into 51 years of marriage, blessed with four sons. Paula’s career as a dedicated 4th-grade teacher at Goodman Elementary School, et al, within the Arlington Independent School District spanned 25 years, impacting countless lives with her warmth and wisdom.
Paula’s legacy is carried on by her loving sons, Vernon Davault and his wife Julie, Greg Davault and his wife Glenda; her grandchildren, Shana, Kyle, Jeff, John(deceased), Josh, Ryan, Jake, Jared, Tyler, Kayley, Jessica, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, who brought immense joy into her life; and a multitude of friends, relatives, and former students touched by her gentle spirit. Predeceased by Buel, her sons Paul and Gary, and her brother Horace Blancett, Paula’s memory will forever be cherished.
A member of Fielder Road Baptist Church, Paula’s faith deeply influenced her life, offering comfort and strength. Paula never met a stranger, embodying generosity and compassion in every interaction.
To honor Paula’s remarkable life, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. Visitation is scheduled at Wade Funeral Home and Crematory on April 11 between 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a graveside service at Moore Memorial Gardens on April 12 at 10 a.m.
