Paula Jean Woods

Paula Jean Woods, 60, of Arlington, died Thursday, June 6, 2024. Paula was born to Cliff and Jean Woods, March 10, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas. Paula graduated from Lamar High School in 1982 and received a Bachelor of Music Degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1988.

Paula was involved with Girl Scouts for many years and earned The Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest and most prestigious award in Girl Scouting, comparable to the Boy Scouts of America’s Eagle Scout. The Gold Award is granted to fewer than 6% of Girl Scouts annually. Each Gold Award Girl Scout spends 1 – 2 years on her project.

Paula was extremely talented in music. She learned to play the piano at a very young age and continued playing several different musical instruments through college. At Lamar, she played the saxophone and was in the marching band and jazz band. Her final examinations in music at Stephen F. Austin required her to complete several piano recitals, each of which she performed perfectly.

Paula played many different sports including fast pitch softball, soccer, and racquetball, and she was a member of the Lamar track and field team. She won numerous awards in these sports including as a shot putter while in high school.

Paula loved animals and raised several litters of miniature Dachshunds over the years.

She worked many years for Woods Tool and Machinery doing accounting, and later provided medical billing for many doctors in the DFW area. Her last job was in the Dallas County Elections Department.

Paula is survived by her father of 92 years, Cliff, and her brother, Kevin Woods. A memorial service will be held at Wade Funeral Home on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will also be at Wade Funeral Home on Friday, June 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.
