Paul R. Sullivan, 84, a retired Quality Inspector in the aircraft industry, doting father and former racehorse owner, died on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in Arlington.

Known by his family as “Bear,” Paul was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Coeburn, Virginia, to John L and Verna Mae Sullivan. He was a longtime resident of Arlington after meeting and marrying his beloved wife, Peggy, with whom they had 3 daughters. He had a life-time career as a Quality Inspection Manager in the aircraft industry. After retiring, his favorite hobbies included co-owning a racehorse “Smear the Butter,” as well as working at both Trinity Meadows and Lone Star Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John L Sullivan and Clifford Ford Sullivan. His wife Peggy of 41 years and his eldest daughter Tamela Sallee.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Spurgin of Arlington, Tx and Paula Carpenter of Dallas, Tx; Bobbie Sullivan, his sister, Shirley McCall of Bristol, Va: grandchildren, Tyler Paul Phillips, Peggy Lorraine Sallee and Taylor Spurgin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
