Patricia "Pat" Kay Swartz

Patricia “Pat” Swartz, 71, of Arlington, Texas died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Arlington Memorial Hospital surrounded by her husband and daughter. Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment to be at a later date. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, also at Wade Family Funeral Home. Patricia Kay was born Aug. 15, 1946, in Grand Island, Nebr., to Leonard and Ann (Shipman) Dickman. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1964. A few years after her graduation, Pat moved to Lincoln, Nebr. and worked as a secretary in the Nebraska State Legislature and Nebraska State Department of Health. During her time in Lincoln, she met her husband Garry and they were united in marriage on February 26, 1972 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. To this union, they had one daughter, Crystal Ann. A few years later Garry and Pat moved to Chapman, Nebr. where she worked as the secretary at the Chapman Public School for 14 years. In 1988, the family moved to South Sioux City, Nebr. where she worked as the secretary at First Lutheran Church for 8 years. The family once again moved to Arlington, Texas in Nov. 1997 and Pat found employment at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control where she worked as a Human Resources assistant in the benefits and medical departments, retiring from there in 2010. Pat was a friendly face and great listener with a calming presence, not only at her places of employment, but also to her family and friends. Family was everything to her and she loved spending time talking, laughing and reminiscing with them. She enjoyed going fishing and RVing with her husband, especially in South Dakota. Pat also loved playing slot machines and spending time with her daughter. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Ann; one brother Marvin Dickman; two sisters Lavonne Powers and Alberta Oberschulte; niece Kim Booker; and nephew Rod Powers. Survivors of the immediate family are her husband of 45 years, Garry Swartz and daughter Crystal Swartz of Arlington. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
