Parks Edwin Williams

ARLINGTON -- Parks Edwin Williams, 91, a Southern gentleman, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Arlington surrounded by his family. Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 911 South Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: 2 p.m. Friday, Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A, Dallas. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association North Central Texas, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 100, Fort Worth, Texas 76102 or 817-336-4949. Parks was born in Atlanta, Ga., and attended the University of Georgia prior to serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II. He worked at Trans World Airlines in New York City where he met the treasure of his life, Hilde, over the water cooler and they were married Oct. 10, 1953. He later went to work for American Airlines and transferred to the Southern Reservations Office and they resided in Arlington where they raised their two sons as Texans. Parks was an avid sailor and former commodore of the Arlington Yacht Club. In retirement he spent many hours volunteering with Meals on Wheels, Arlington Visitor Information Center, AARP Tax Assistance Program, Boy Scouting and church projects. Parks will be so missed by his family and friends but his legacy of the love of his gentleness will ever live on. Survivors: Wife, Hilde Williams; sons, Gary Williams and wife, Debbie, Jeff Williams and wife, Mirna, Ed Williams and wife, Carolyn; daughter, Kathy Macauto; brother, Charles Williams and wife, Midge; grandchildren, Greggory Williams and wife, Miranda, Jordan Williams and wife, Natalie, Bryant Williams and fiancee, Amanda, and Dallas Cheverere and husband, Dillon; great-grandchildren, Cadence Williams and Grayson Williams.
