Otto Eugene Schroeder Jr., 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in Arlington. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington with Father Michael Ciski, T.O.R. celebrant. Inurnment: St. Francis Cremains Garden. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Harvey Relief. The family wishes to thank Brookdale Senior Living and the staff at Clarebridge. Otto was born on April 4, 1930 in Fort Worth to Otto Eugene Schroeder Sr. and Margaret Wight Schroeder. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he graduated from Arlington State College, Texas Tech University and Texas A& M University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. Otto married Doris Fleck in Fort Worth on June 7, 1952. A longtime resident of Arlington, he was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. He opened his veterinary practice, Park Row Animal Hospital, in 1965. After his retirement, he worked on his farm in Mansfield growing peach trees and Christmas trees. He enjoyed vacationing in Red River, New Mexico with his family and working his farm. Otto dearly loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, David L. Schroeder; and a sister, Mary Margaret Olson. Survivors: Wife of 65 years, Doris R. Schroeder; children, Otto E. Schroeder III and wife, Kathy, Ann Barfield and husband, Keith, Jim Schroeder and wife, Anne, and Karen Miener and husband, Jeff; sister, Catherine Grace; grandchildren, Jennifer, Andrew, Elizabeth, Matthew and wife, Danielle, Lauren, Patrick, Ryan, Ben, Emma, Megan and Blake; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor.
