Sarah Orlena Morris, 96, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, December 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Village Retirement Community Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23rd at Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield, Texas.
Orlena was born on March 4, 1921 in Pontotoc, Mississippi to Jeff and Sarah Frances (Brown) Ball. Her family later moved to Brownfield, Texas where she graduated from Brownfield High School at the top of her class. Orlena married A. L. Morris on August 11, 1946 and they were married for 32 years until he passed away in 1978. She was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children and was well known for her cooking talents. She worked for Brownfield Regional Hospital in the dietary department, until her retirement at age 72. Orlena enjoyed traveling and was very independent and strong willed. She attended Friendship Primitive Baptist Church in Brownfield. When she was 91 years old, she moved to Fort Worth to be closer to her family. She attended Brentwood Hills Primitive Baptist Church. She was close to both of her church families and touched many lives. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life and she was a great influence to all of them. Her family would like to thank the staff of Lakewood Village Retirement Community and Vitas Hospice staff for the continual care and support she received during this difficult time as her life came to a close.
Orlena is survived by two daughters, Sharon Wright and husband, Ronnie, and Sheila Pollard and husband, Bill; son Barry Morris, and wife, Jayne; grandchildren, Misty Clark and husband, Brian, Wendy Danner and husband, Sidney, Megan Wright and Sarah Pollard; great-grandchildren, Erin Clark, Ryan Clark, Cohen Laurence and Hazel Danner.
