She lived at The Waterford in Pantego for the final 8 years of her life. Prior to that, she lived in Warner, Oklahoma. Her death resulted from pancreatic cancer and kidney disease. Mrs. Loyd was the only child of Joseph Arthur Asbill and Annie Laura Stewart Asbill. She married D R Loyd on October 11, 1941. They were married until his death on February 19,1999. It was a marriage based on love and respect filled with Christian values. A 1985 car accident left him with brain damage, and she cared for him until his death. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Warner. Mrs. Loyd began work outside her home when she was about 40 years of age. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service and became the Warner Postmaster in 1972. She found time to take courses at the local community college. She found time to take the grandchildren shopping, teach them to cook simple dishes, and make doll clothes. Her energy was unending, and she took advantage of every opportunity to travel. We want to thank the director, Jennifer Burton, and the staff at The Waterford in Pantego. It is impossible to list all the caring and helpful employees, and we apologize if we fail to include your name. Robyn, Brett and Cathy are among many employees who helped her. She cared deeply for Velma, Fatime, Maryam and Delmy. Mena and Goldie were remarkable caregivers in her final days.
