Graduated from Trimble Technical High School Fort Worth, Texas May 1946 and attended North Texas Agriculture College (now University of Texas - Arlington) Arlington, Texas 1946 - 1948 Nettie Sue (Stamp) Graves born to this world January 3, 1929 and transitioned to her true home in Heaven on September 24, 2021. Sue lived a diverse and dignified life, would never write nor speak poetry before kings and queens, however, her life can be observed clearly through the lives of her family. No she wasn't perfect ... in her own words - "The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with." Served faithfully at Pantego Bible Church and Central Bible Church. Sue Graves was very blessed with parents who loved and cared for her as an only child yet suffered some lung disease limiting a lot of her outdoor activity. Not an athlete, as her future daughter, son and grand-children; a favorite story she shared was the years in high school when friends convinced her to join the marching band so she could go to football games. The PROBLEM was she could not play an instrument and the band teacher didn't know. She was with her friends and a heck of good marcher. The ability to adapt and adjust are keys to understanding Sue Graves, particularly after her husband of thirty-seven (37) years passed away unexpectedly. Following three years living in Tyler, Texas at the Pine Cove Christian Camp and Conference Center serving as Housekeeping Supervisor she earned her camp name "Clutsy" presumably for either dropping dishes or more likely stepping on her own toes! Moving back to Hamilton, Texas she served the Calvary Baptist Church and dabbled as a Sole-Proprietor for The Hobby House followed by Pamela and Sheri's favorite ... Ice Cream on the Square. Family life soon drew Sue to move back to Fort Worth and Arlington to be closer to her busy grand-daughters school activities and of course volleyball. Employed at the Tarrant County Convention Center and Arlington Convention Center as Ticket Sales and Greeter, "The Yellow Jackets" allowed Sue Graves to really blossom ... that is talk and brag about her city, state of Texas and family THEN TALK SOME MORE! People from all over the United States and even Europe knew Sue Graves and those returning annually for conventions would ask for "Sue to catch up!" The other great job was with the Texas Rangers Baseball, first working in the retail store where she met so many players and their families. As usual, she worked in stories about herself and her grand-children. Sue made the next transition with Texas Rangers Women's Club as a volunteer Guest Relations Greeter welcoming fans to the Ballpark in Arlington on game days. A cover letter she used with her resume reads ... " I have always enjoyed the "personal" side of my different business and professional relationships. I live an independent lifestyle with freedom to travel and undertake different types of employment. For the past three years I have worked at a clothing retail store, merchandiser, hostess and ticket sales for Trinity Meadows and guest relations for the Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau. All of which required continuous interaction with the public while providing a service ... Thankfully, I am still an active senior and very much interested in my next opportunity for service. I truly enjoy the hostess and hospitality element because it offers me opportunities to meet new and interesting people." As friend of Sue Graves you probably heard many of her "Sue-isms." She wrote down a few ... "On Getting Older" Lord, you know me better than I know myself, that I am growing older and will someday be old! Keep me from getting talkative and particularly the fatal habit of thinking I must say something on every subject and on every occasion. Release me from craving to try to straighten out everyone's affairs. Keep my mind free from the recital of endless details and give me wings to get to the point. I ask for grace enough to listen to the tales of others, help me to endure them with patience, but seal my lips on my own aches and pains. ...Teach me the glorious lesson that occasionally it is possible that I may be mistaken. Keep me reasonably sweet, I do not want to be a saint. ...Make me thoughtful, but not moody; helpful, but not bossy. With my vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it also." LORD YOU KNOW THAT I WANT A FEW FRIENDS AT THE END! SUE GRAVES, JULY 2011 Adventuresome is another characteristic of Sue Graves. March 2010 she fulfilled a lifetime dream ... Riding a Hot Air Balloon. The certificate states ... "Let it also be known that the aforementioned has broken the bonds of Earth and ascended into the skies on this day during the 'Lighter Than Air Adventure.'" Well, that was then and as you know, this past Friday Nettie Sue (Stamp) Graves exceeded this by joining her husband, father, mother and many of friends who preceded her transitioning to ... FULL EXPERIENCE LIFE IN HEAVEN. She would want all of her friends to join her someday and wants to extend a heart-felt invitation to the reader to discover HOW. Just ask any of her grand-children or great-grandchildren! Thank you "momma", "gran-mommie", "Sue" for the example of a great life lived well! Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
