Nathan was born in San Jose, California and has lived in Arlington for the past 27 years.
Nathan received his B.A. from Austin College in classical civilizations (Ancient Greek/Roman history, literature, philosophy, Latin and Greek) and his second major in Theater Arts. He earned his M.F.A. from UNT in Documentary Film. Nathan was also a certified chef from Austin's Cordon Bleu Culinary School.
Nathan worked as a history/Latin teacher and cooking instructor/assistant coach at the Flint Academy of Arlington. He also worked as a chef at The Four Seasons & Renaissance Hotels in Austin and later as a chef at various nursing homes helping the elderly and finally at Shady Valley Country Club.
Nathan played baseball at Arlington High School and Austin College and enjoyed basketball. He played the piano beautifully.
Nathan was tender-hearted, supportive and was a very spiritual, strong Christian. However, he battled alcoholism for most of his adult life, having been hospitalized over 8 times for reactions to withdrawal. He was in residential rehab twice.
Thank you to Faith Home of North Carolina for providing free rehab. Throughout all of his struggles, Nathan's faith in Christ was unwavering. He was attempting to detox from alcohol so that he could enter Faith Home Rehab again. He said, "Mom, I'm going to try again." During his detox he had a seizure, hit his head, and did not recover.
Thank you to Medical Center of Arlington and Harris Methodist Hospital for offering tremendous compassion in such a difficult time.
Nathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillian Mae and Marshall Lee Flint.
