Nancy Perryman Sopher

July 13, 1944 — March 14, 2025

Burleson

Nancy Perryman Sopher, 80, of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1944, in Arlington, Texas, to Robert W. and Bess (Combs) Perryman.

A proud member of the Arlington High School class of 1962, Nancy began her career as a switchboard operator and eventually retired from Family Healthcare and Associates where she worked as an administrative assistant for many years. In 1972, Nancy married Bill Sopher, a Navy man, and their love story spanned for 49 years until Bill's passing in 2021. As a wife, Nancy lovingly supported Bill through the ups and downs of life, and as a mother, she instilled in her children values of compassion, perseverance, and joy which they now carry into their own families, honoring her legacy. Nancy’s loving nature extended beyond her family. She had a larger-than-life personality that left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her fierce compassion was matched only by her wit and her ability to find joy in the smallest moments. She lived life with a smile, and her laughter was contagious. Whether playing the piano, crocheting, or cheering on her favorite sports team from Texas, Nancy had a passion for life and all things sports.

Nancy is survived by her son Billy Gene Sopher Jr. and wife, Katrina; her daughter Heather Downs and husband, Jeff; four grandchildren, Kody Gentry (Emma Wooten), Kaylee Ellis (Joshua Ellis), Eli Downs and Sadie Downs; one great-granddaughter, Amayah Ellis; sister Becky Blazek, brother Robert Perryman Jr., many cousins, nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bess Perryman, her husband Bill Sopher, and her nephew Rhett Perryman.

Nancy was a woman who truly loved big, and her joyful spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. While Nancy's presence will be missed, her children and extended family know of the blessing she has been in their lives. Nancy’s family takes comfort in knowing she will continue to live on in their hearts, as she always lived with love, humor, and grace.
