ARLINGTON-Nancy “Jo” Ellen Schmidt, 85, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 surrounded by family in Arlington.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, at Grace Lutheran Church, 210 W. Park Row, Arlington, TX 76010. Private Interment Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlingtov, TX 76013.

Nancy Jo was born June 4, 1932 in Memphis, TX to Charles and Lola Reynolds. She started her career with General Telephone as Chief Operator in San Angelo, TX where she met the love of her life, Lewis A. Schmidt. They were married September 15, 1956 and spent 61 wonderful years together. They started their life together in Minneapolis, MN and she was a stay-at-home mom while raising their 5 children. In 1974, they relocated to Arlington, TX and was an active member of Arlington Newcomers Club and Grace Lutheran Church. At Grace Lutheran Church, she volunteered with the Braille Ministry, Altar Guild, and many other charitable activities. Her favorite past-time was spending time with her family, especially her grand-children. She enjoyed cooking and spending Sundays at church followed by family time which consisted of cooking her famous pot-roast. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and sitting by the pool. She never met a stranger; her children and grand-children were her pride and joy. She loved and cared for everyone.
Nancy Jo Schmidt is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: She is survived by her husband, Lewis A. Schmidt. Children, John Schmidt and wife Kecia, Jim Schmidt and wife Stephanie, Melinda Schmidt, Julie Barnes, Mike Schmidt and wife Na, all of Arlington, TX. Her grandchildren, Derek, Rachel, Amanda, Tanner, Katy, Jay, Kennedy, and Emily; and her great-grandchild, Declan.
For those who knew her, she loved you. For those who never met her, she would have loved you. She is at peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
