Mildred Laplace Mason

February 29, 1940 — September 24, 2023

On February 29, 1940 Mildred LaPlace Mason was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Mildred was united in holy matrimony to Adrain O. Mason. To that union two wonderful sons were born, Kenneth Bret Mason of Memphis, Tennessee and Adrain Seth Mason of Dallas, Texas.

At an early age, she joined Asbury Methodist Church in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Mildred was a graduate of Central High School in Louisiana. She received a B.S. Degree in Education from Southern University and later received additional credit in Early Childhood Education.

After moving to Memphis, Tennessee she began her teaching career at Cypress Middle School and later transferred to Hawkins Mill Elementary where she taught Kindergarten for many years. She retired from Memphis City Schools and moved to Orlando, Florida and began teaching where she touched many lives from Florida and abroad.

Mom was a strong and independent woman who fearlessly took on the challenge of raising two boys on her own. Mom was up for any adventure and loved to travel. But her favorite place to visit was the beach. This was where she found the most joy and we experienced some of our happiest moments with her. She was a joy to be around, loved to laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mom was a friend to many and there are so many who could attest to her friendship and generosity. But anyone would quickly tell you that the most important people in her life were her sons and her grandchildren.

On September 24, 2023 her journey was completed and the Lord sweetly beckoned her home.

To cherish her memories, Mildred is survived by two sons, Kenneth Bret Mason and Adrain Seth Mason; three grandchildren, Jarius Mason, Ketayah Mason and Braden Andres Mason; two daughters-in-law, Rosalyn Mason and Maria Mason.

Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, October 14, at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
