Michael Anthony Pool was born in Fort Worth, Texas on October 29, 1949 and left this world on October 28, 2016. He was the second of four brothers and one sister born to Edward and Elizabeth Pool. The family moved to Arlington, Texas in 1954 and Mike spent the rest of his life as a resident and supporter of the town that he watched grow into a city. Raised in the Catholic faith he was an altar boy at St Maria Goretti's elementary school. He attended Ousley Junior High, graduated from Arlington High School and Tarrant County Junior College with an Associates Degree. He took piano lessons early in life and developed into an accomplished guitarist, forming a band with his older brother Pat that performed locally for several years. His love for music was a family hallmark and listening to songs and attending concerts was a lifelong passion. Mike worked hard but was never work driven though he was skillful in the electronics repair he performed through most of his career. His interests were numerous: in addition to music he loved movies, sports, gardening, reading and many pets. He became a horse race enthusiast during early family trips to Ruidoso, New Mexico and could regularly be seen at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, reading the tip sheets, calculating the odds and placing his carefully considered bets. Most of all, Mike enjoyed the time spent with family talking and laughing and sharing a frosty cold beverage. He had a close bond with our sister Teresa who kept him in line and provided care and love for him during his later health struggles. Mike never married but was constantly involved with all of his nephews, nieces and cousins who he loved and treasured. His friendships were many and enduring; lifelong relationships that lasted the tests of time because of Mike's warmth, humor and sincerity and special personality. Mike truly cared about the issues of the day and the state of the world and could be a fierce advocate for his beliefs –he had the courage of his convictions. In his last few years, Mike was suffered with health issues and adversity that he faced with courage, determination and faith. He never gave up hope or fighting for the future he deserved; he always said “I want to live. I have a lot of living to do.” His health problems could not defeat his passion for life, but ultimately he could not overcome the devastation of injuries resulting from a senseless auto accident. God called him to his place in eternity where he has joined his parents and his brother Pat and waits patiently for us to join them in our time.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Elizabeth Pool, and his eldest brother Pat Pool.
