Michael John Whittenberg

Michael (Mike) John Whittenberg was born on August 25, 1991 in Grand Prairie, TX, to Richard Whittenberg and Angela Komisarz. He died October 18, 2021 in Arlington, TX at the age of 30.

Michael graduated from Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, TX in 2009, earning a high school diploma and the rank of Cadet Captain (Marine ROTC) and cadet commanding officer of Delta Company. He had many varied interests and talents, working as a sailboat maintenance mechanic, carpenter, juggler at renaissance fairs, and sales associate, among others.

Michael spent most of his life in Arlington, but he also traveled with renaissance fairs, lived in Harlingen and Austin for a time, and lived on a sailboat in Annapolis, MD. He loved adventure and the outdoors. During his time at the Academy, he enjoyed sailing and was a member of the Climbing Team. He also enjoyed fishing, archery, camping, and spending time in the mountains of Colorado.

Michael loved people and animals. He had a keen sense of humor and a smile for everyone. He loved good music and reading. He was a perpetual student of any and every subject. He had an amazing intellect and had the ability to connect with people. He was a sensitive and thoughtful person. He was a friend to many, and a very special friend to Michelle (Misha) Morrison, who preceded him in death.

Michael is survived by Richard Whittenberg – father, Angela Komisarz – mother, Joseph Komisarz – step-father, Jared Whittenberg – brother, Heather Collins – sister, and Ryan Komisarz – step-brother.

Services for Mr. Michael Whittenberg will be held on October 30th at 10am at First Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas.

Visitation will precede the service on October 30th beginning at 8:30am at First Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas.

Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas, immediately following the service.
