Melody M Perkins, age 80, passed away on January 20, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. She died peacefully in her home and was surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 10, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Fort Cobb United Methodist Church in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma.
Melody was born on December 15, 1943 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Ray R Metz and Vesta (Givens) Metz. She graduated from Fort Cobb High School. Melody eventually moved to Arlington, Texas where she became a part of the Pantego Business Alliance and was President of the Pantego Business Assoc. At which time she was the owner of Pannell Towing Service in Pantego, Texas from 1996 to 2003. She then moved to Alba, Texas where she began working as a Private Home Health Hospice Assistant. Melody returned to Arlington in 2019 where she continued her work as a Private Home Health Hospice Assistant, this time for a family in Fort Worth before retiring for good in 2020.
In addition to being an amazing quilter, Melody loved gardening, cooking, Estate Sales and fishing. But, most of all, she loved her grandchildren. She was known by many titles including Friend, Boss, Daughter, Sister, Aunt Melody and Grandma Mel Mel, but her greatest title was Mom. She was loved by many and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Melody was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Vesta Metz; brother Wesley Netz; and companion Richard L. Bridges.
She is survived by her brother Leslie Metz; sisters Cathy Stockton and Fairy Holdge; sons Scott Perkins and Marvin Perkins of Arlington, Texas and daughters, Linda Gale Atwood Chapman of Fort Worth, Texas and Jana Jo Perkins of Arlington, Texas as well as ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
