Maurane Lawler Edwards

May 13, 1933 — December 27, 2023

Maurane Lawler Edwards, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, at the age of 90. She was born in Lockhart, Texas, on May 13, 1933, and was the loving daughter of Jack and Dolly Lawler.

Maurane’s pursuit of knowledge led her to graduate from a technical high school where she acquired secretarial skills that would prove invaluable throughout her life. She dedicated herself to her work and found success in the Glass Industry, quickly rising through the ranks to become a respected manager. Her unwavering determination eventually led her to become a proud owner of companies in the industry, where she inspired others with her passion and leadership.

A true Texan at heart, Maurane embarked on a brief sojourn in Utah before returning to her beloved Lone Star State. She embraced the ranching lifestyle with her husband of 65 years, which brought them great joy and fulfillment. Maurane’s love for nature extended beyond ranching, particularly for the beauty and grace of birds. She delighted in the presence of hummingbirds, finding solace and happiness in their vibrant displays.

Maurane embraced a true rancher’s spirit of running cattle and tending to the land. She was tough yet embraced a genuine feminine quality. She will be remembered fondly for putting on her makeup in the farm truck while heading out to the ranch property.

Maurane’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She leaves behind her devoted son and daughter, Gary Edwards and Maurci Witherspoon, who will forever cherish the love and support they shared. Maurane was a doting mother, adoring grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. Her love and guidance will live on through her family, who hold her memory close to their hearts.

Maurane was preceded in death by her husband Murriel (Mel)Dean Edwards, her parents, Maurice (Jack) and Dera(Dolly) Lawler, son Eddy (Ed) Edwards, and nephew Terry Tinsley.

To honor Maurane’s life and legacy, her family invites friends and loved ones to celebrate her remarkable journey.
