Matthew Charles Spikes

August 18, 1999 — May 18, 2021

Matthew Charles Spikes, 21, passed into the arms of his Savior on May 18, 2021 in Arlington, TX. Matthew was born on August 18, 1999, at the turn of the century, an exciting time and place to begin his journey in God's creation. A precious gift from God, who we dedicated to God and continually thanked God for everyday we had him to love on him. He enjoyed the social connection of school more than the academics. In 7th grade he became interested in Multimedia Production and loved every moment spent learning and applying the craft. He started applying his passion in the PBC Youth Ministry and carried it into the Central Bible Church Services. He was captured by the thrill of Muscle Cars and after High School, began to make his living in the field of Automotive Service. After a couple of years, it became clear his heart was not in that career path. God redirected his steps toward another field of endeavor. He purchased a Discovery Flight from a local Air Field and fell in love with flight. His time spent in JROTC introduced him to Military Service. A life of flying Jets in the Air Force would be the ultimate career in Military Service. Working at the UPS Ramp at DFW Airport loading and unloading Jets and riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle were for the moment, the closest he could get to being there. Matthew was working diligently toward that goal, until his mortal and tragic death on May 18, 2021, when Christ faithfully and lovingly guided him home to Himself. Matthew's heart was a humble and tender one, a servant's heart. He loved to laugh and have fun. He loved hanging out with friends. He had a stubborn individualistic streak, but a teachable spirit. Integrity, Honor and Respect mattered to him and he proved it in his work and how he treated others and us. A country boy's heart who loved the freedom of the outdoors and the open road. His heart and soul, were in the journey of learning how to hear God, how to love God and to serve our Lord Jesus, the Living Christ. Matthew is survived by his parents, Ron and Ann Spikes; his younger sister, Jessica, his Grandmothers, Patricia Spikes and Laverne Harrell; and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10 am at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 West Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington, Tx. 76013.
