Matthew Blaine McVay, a loving son, devoted friend, and passionate sports enthusiast, passed away on December 31, 2023, in a tragic accident, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on May 3, 1986, in Arlington, Texas, Blaine was the beloved son of Rick and Stephane’ McVay.

From a young age, Blaine exhibited a love for sports. Whether it was playing, watching, or participating in fantasy football leagues, Blaine’s enthusiasm was contagious. He especially excelled in golf, where his skills on the course were admired by many. Blaine’s natural talent made him both a fierce competitor and a cherished teammate on the golf course and softball teams he was a part of.

The friends Blaine made were a testament to his charismatic and friendly nature. He cherished his friends and was truly loyal to each of them. He created many joyful memories with his friends at work, on the golf course, and playing softball. Among his closest companions was his faithful and loyal dog, Charlie.

Beyond his love for sports, Blaine had a deep compassion for animals. He earned a reputation as the neighborhood go-to for rescuing critters from neighboring yards, pools and golf courses. His tender heart and gentle spirit led him to never harm a creature, not even a fly.

Blaine’s joyful demeanor brought happiness to those around him. His sense of humor and ability to uplift others made him a cherished friend. His infectious positivity illuminated the lives of his friends, family, and coworkers.

Blaine made the decision to give his life to Christ and was baptized by Dr. Charles Wade at First Baptist Church in Arlington in 1998.

Blaine leaves behind his loving parents, Rick and Stephane’ McVay, who provided him with unwavering love and support throughout his life. He also leaves behind his sister, Meagan McBay, her husband, Christopher, and their son, Oliver. His aunt, Cynthia Waddle, his cousins Tyler Waddle and Cody Waddle and his family. Additionally, he is survived by his aunt Sheryl Michael and her husband, Pat, his cousins Michelle Cardenas, Leslie Brooke, and their families and his Aunt Paula McVay, her son James McVay and his family. They will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.

Blaine was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Bob and Bonnie Elston and Pauline McVay Schroeder and Wayne McVay and his uncle George McVay and by his cousins, Joshua Michael and Thomas McVay.

In honor of Blaine’s life, a celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Arlington, located at 301 S. Center Street, Arlington, TX 76010. Following the service, a gathering of friends and family will take place at Rick and Stephane’s home where stories of his life can be shared among loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Arlington or an animal saving non-profit close to your heart.

Blaine’s bright spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by all whose lives he touched. His infectious smile and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
