Mary Katherine “Mary Kay” (Smith) Schaefer, age 82, departed this world Sunday April 5, 2020 at Medical City Arlington. She was born February 25, 1938 in Carthage, Missouri to William P. Smith and Blanche Dorinda Hill. Mary Kay is preceded in death by her husband Joe E. Schaefer and son Bobby Hunt. Mary Kay grew up in several cities all around her favorite was Biloxi with her sister Betty and her friends referred to her as Brownie because of her tan. They lived in a hotel called the Whitehouse on the beach. She met Joe Schaefer in 1965 and they were married for 53 Years. She was a life saving swimmer, a PTA Mom. A Football Mom. A Track Mom. A Drill Team Mom. A Baseball Mom. A Cub Scout and Boy Scout Mom. A Camp Fire Girl Mom. Mary Kay was the neighborhood mom of Laura Lane when her children were growing up because her house was the place all the neighborhood kids wanted to be. “One of the neighborhood kids wrote she was a big part of our lives. She was a caring, giving, selfless, larger than life Mom to all of us.” She loved and mothered everyone. Mary Kay and Joe owned Schaefer Art Bronze Casting for 42 years. She went on several African Safaris and Traveled all over. She belonged to the Arlington Sportsman's Club. Mary Kay lived her life to the fullest, she was kind, caring, and generous. Mary Kay enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, sewing. She was very creative, she could paint, she could come up with anything at the last minute. She was very Patriotic. She loved America. Her favorite colors were red, white and blue. She loved Texas, Bluebonnets and Yellow Roses. She never met a stranger. She was a member of Epworth Church in Arlington. Mary Kay is survived by her sister Betty Harris and husband Stanley, Son Bill Hunt and wife LeeAnne, Daughter Cheryl Ladd and husband Tommy, Daughter Cookie Rice and husband Russell, James and wife Melissa, Rita and Husband Kevin, Grandchildren, Brandy(Paul), Ryan ( Ashlee), Heather(Michael), Victoria, Preston(Roni),Patrick, Zane(Jessie), Eric, Christina(Chris), Jake, Matthew, Bo, Madison, Will, Great-Grandchildren, Emma, Anslee, Jaxon, Mason, Jensen, Liam, Barrett Wade Family Funeral Home & Crematory 817-274-9233
