Mary Louise Loomer

September 13, 1935 — October 14, 2022

Mary Louise Wilson Loomer, 87, passed away on October 14, 2022. Mary was born on September 13, 1935, in Lufkin, Texas to F.J. and Estelle Wilson. Mary grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Ray High School.

When Mary was a senior in high school, she attended a military ball and met the love of her life, Arthur Robert (Bob) Loomer. After she graduated they wed on December 5, 1953. Mary and Bob loved each other dearly and were happily married for 42 years.

Mary and Bob first resided in Corpus Christi, where they had their first daughter, Rebecca Lynne. After Bob completed a flight instructor assignment at a naval base in Kingsville, Texas, they moved their new family to Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary and Bob welcomed two additional children: Jeanne Elaine and Arthur Robert (Bob) Jr. After Bob completed his degree at the University of Nebraska, the family relocated to Arlington, Texas in 1958. Five years later, they welcomed their fourth child, Mark Douglas. Mary called Arlington, Texas home for 64 years.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mary had a very close-knit group of friends and a busy social life. She learned to play bridge thru the local YMCA and loved to entertain. Her bridge group played cards weekly and had numerous events together over the years. Mary enjoyed having meals together, going to the symphony, the theater and the horse races with her bridge friends. They remained her very good friends for over 60 years.

Many of Mary’s fondest times were spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary and Bob had a lake house and she loved cooking, boating, shopping, and hosting her family there. Mary loved going to the Dallas Market with her sisters and traveling to see family in Corpus Christi. She loved shopping with her daughters and granddaughters. Mary enjoyed looking at the latest fashions and shoes at Macy’s and almost all of the associates there knew her by name.

Mary had the prettiest blue eyes and a smile that would light up the room. She took pride in her appearance and always had matching accessories and shoes. She loved her home and took pride in it. She enjoyed taking care of her lawn and flowers, and watching birds. She looked forward to parties and holiday events with her family. She loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, American Idol and HGTV with family in her living room. Mary loved her family immensely and she always wanted the best for her children and grandchildren. Mary loved life and was deeply loved. Her presence will be deeply missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Robert (Bob) Loomer and her daughter, Jeanne Harlin. Mary is survived by her children Rebecca Tendy, Bob Loomer Jr. and Mark Loomer. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren Scott Fitzgerald, Heather Hale, Andrea Smith, and John Harlin. Mary was blessed with five great grandchildren: Reagan Fitzgerald, Amanda Fitzgerald, Jude Smith, Nolan Smith, and Logan Harlin.
