Mary Kay Goering, 68, of Arlington, TX, passed away September 20th after a long illness. Born on June 4, 1951 to Frank Lawrence and Edna Faye McCoy in Findley Township, Mercer County, PA, Mary Kay grew up in Wolf Creek Township on a small farm outside Grove City, PA and attended Grove City schools. After earning a BA degree in Math and Religion from Grove City College, Mary Kay was chosen to participate in the General Electric Financial Management Program and enjoyed a 37-year career with GE before retiring in 2013. Thoughtful and generous toward others, Mary Kay was known for investing in those around her, seeking to help them grow into their potential. Family was extremely important to Mary Kay. She was devoted to her husband and to her mother working tirelessly to care for each of them as they faced long, deteriorating illnesses. Mary Kay took great joy in family history, gathering and archiving photos, heirlooms and stories to preserve for future generations. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially when it included a game of trivia, cards or any game involving words. Mary Kay loved counted-cross-stitch and many of her pieces became cherished gifts for family members. Broadway theater and the New York Yankees were two very special loves she shared with her husband. She was a devoted Yankee fan who never missed watching or listening to a game. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Michael James Goering of New York, her parents, and her brother, James McCoy. Mary Kay is survived by her sister, Linda, and brother-in-law Eric Jamison of Poland, OH; her sisters-in-law Kathy McCoy of Arlington, TX and Patricia Goering of Bronx, NY; niece, Suzanne McCoy and nephew Bill McCoy (Carol) of Arlington, TX and three great nephews. A memorial service to be held in Grove City, PA at East Main Presbyterian Church on October 26th at 2 PM. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
