Joan Bridges Hudson passed away September 14, 2021 in Arlington, Texas. Graveside Service: 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. Joan was born May 10, 1923, in Amarillo, Texas to Robert and Nancy Bridges. She grew up as the baby of the family with five older siblings, three sisters and two brothers. Joan attended the University of Texas in Austin and was a true fan of the Longhorns. On May 18, 1946 she married the love of her life, Merritt Edward Hudson. She was a great mother, loved her family deeply, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her free time, Joan enjoyed hobbies including cooking, gardening, crocheting and sewing. She had a love for theater and drama and enjoyed performing on radio and stage at the University of Texas and after she left school. She was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and supporter of the Democratic party. Those who knew her enjoyed her great sense of humor. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Merritt Hudson; sisters, Ella Mae Bridges, Katherine Bridges, Clarine Hardman; brothers, Robert Howard Bridges, William Bridges. Survivors: Daughters, Elaine Laub, Cynthia Petty (Mark); Grandchildren, Daniel, Douglas, Melanie, Stephen, Robyn; Great Grandchildren, Noah, Bennett, Spencer, Holly, Preston, Karina, Madison, Kelley, Hannah, Layne. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Silverado Hospice for the care of their mother during such a difficult time.
