Mary Jane Powers, age 83, of Mansfield, Texas passed away peacefully on March 4, 2023 with her family at her bedside. Mary Jane was born November 15, 1939, in the oilfield town of Monahans, Texas, to Cecil and Evelyn (Arnold) Pounds. She attended North Texas State University after graduating from Monahans High School.

She will be remembered by all who knew her as a life-long voracious reader with some of her favorites being the collective works of Stephen King and Anne Rice as well as biographical and historical works. A few of her all-time favorites were Gone with the Wind, Lonesome Dove, and The Godfather.

Mary Jane’s creativity and generosity were reflected in the personalized Christmas stockings she created each year – a favorite holiday tradition cherished by her family. Her love and skill for decorating in general was highlighted for the holidays, which created an especially festive atmosphere for family holiday traditions. Mary Jane’s elegant style was mirrored by her natural beauty and fun-loving personality.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Glenda Jean Sutphen. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Bobby Powers; two sons, Phillip Powers and his wife Amy of Dallas, and Patrick Powers and his wife Amy of Mansfield; one daughter, Paige Robertson and her fiancé Stoney Hebert of Allen; brother Darryl Pounds and wife Debbie of Granbury; eight grandchildren, Hayden Moore, Ally Morris and her husband Cody, Liv and Elle Powers, Jackson and Reagan Powers, Riley and Lexi Robertson; three great-grandchildren, Aspen and Avyen Morris and Cade Moore; several loving nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.
