Mary Helen Hunter, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Mansfield.
Graveside Service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas.
Visitation:6-8 p.m. Monday, September 20, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Mary was born on December 5, 1931, in Pinehurst, North Carolina to William E Kennedy and Emily McIntosh Kennedy. She was sent to New York City where she grew up in Harlem.
She went back to North Carolina where she graduated high school in 1951. After graduation she went back to New York where she would met and married James E Hunter . They were married on December 5, 1953. God bless them with three children Michael, Zachary and Brenda.
Mary went to work years later after being a homemaker. She worked for the LaGuardia airport security supervisor. She retired in 1987. She was an avid golfer like her husband, James. She took great joy in his hobbies. As they got older, they moved out of New York to Virginia to be closer to their family.
In 2003 Mary and husband moved to Texas to be closer to their daughter Brenda, her husband and grandkids. There they would spent the rest of their years sixty-one years until James departing on June 15, 2015.
Mary loved her gospel music, jazz and oldies. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, reading and playing with her great-grandkids. She loved her family. Mary had a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by husband James E Hunter.
Survivors: sons Michael and Zachary Hunter. Daughter Brenda Gittens. Brother James Jones, two daughter in-laws
One son in-law. Two sister in-laws, host of grandchildren, great grands and friends. She will be dearly missed.
