ARLINGTON -- Mary Frances Edge, 67, died Sunday, March 17, 2013.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Interment: 11 a.m. Thursday with military honors in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Fran was born Saturday, Aug. 11, 1945. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a very dear friend. She was an Army surgical nurse in the Vietnam War, a registered nurse at Arlington Memorial, a school nurse at Meacham Middle School and Diamond Hill-Jarvis High schools, and a commander in the Navy Nurse Corps. She lost her battle with uterine cancer but died peacefully and painlessly at home with her husband, son and grandchildren by her bedside. She traveled the world, made pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to Rome as a faithful Catholic, served her country in war and peacetime, and provided aid and comfort to many as a nurse.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny.
Survivors: Husband, Rodney; son, Dion; grandchildren, Isabella, Atticus and Quentin; brothers and sisters, Raymond, Luis, Juanita, Tomas Jr., Teresa, Alice, Robert, Richard, Carlos and Arthur; and many nieces and nephews.
