Martha Nell Frankland

Martha Nell Myrick Frankland, 96, a World War II Veteran, passed away on February 23rd, 2020. A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center Street in Arlington, Texas at 11:00 a.m. on March 9th, 2020 followed by a 2:30 service at DFW National Cemetery. Martha was the fourth of four children born to Wilkie Susan Myrick and Thomas Jesse Myrick, Sr. on July 1st, 1923 in Martin Tennessee. She graduated from High School in Laurel Mississippi in 1941. After WWII started, she joined the Navy WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service). She served in Washington D.C. from May 4, 1944 to April 6, 1946; writing travel orders for soldiers being transferred from station to station. After WWII Martha went back to her hometown of Laurel Mississippi and met Darrel Dee Frankland on a blind date. They were married 62 years beginning on June 23rd, 1951 in Waco Texas. Martha was primarily a homemaker and raised two children. In the 1970's and 80's she worked as an Engineering Secretary for Pitts Industries in Carrollton Texas. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch Texas and later First United Methodist Church in Arlington Texas. Her favorite hymn was “In the Garden.” She was the best cook in the world when it comes to scrambled eggs. She was loved by her family, had pretty blue eyes and a sweet heart. She will be missed until we join her in Heaven. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, brother Frank Myrick and wife Roma and Thomas Myrick and wife Nita, sister Dorothy Ann Myrick Lessing and her husband Wilfrid Edward Lessing, Jr. Those left behind to cherish her memory are daughter Martha Susan Jett, Susan's son Christopher Jay Byram, his daughter Alyssa Byram. Susan's daughter Angela Toombs Lanier and her husband Jon Lanier. Son Charles Thomas Frankland, wife Kimberly Brix Frankland; their Son Jesse Charles Frankland, his wife Brooke Sims Frankland and their infant son Simon Oliver. Niece Melissa Herrin and her children Heath Aleksines and Alayna Herrin and their families. Nephew Michael Myrick and family. Nephew Tom Myrick and family and Niece Beth Myrick. Also, Darrel's daughter Janet Baines and her family.
