Marsha Luella Bentley

October 23, 1939 — January 15, 2013

ARLINGTON -- On Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, Marsha Strasenburgh Bentley passed peacefully knowing and accepting that, at the age of 73 after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis, this was her time to move to the final stage in life. She resided with her husband of 46 years, William Bentley, in Arlington. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at St. Barnabas United Methodist Church in Arlington. A light reception will follow for all family and friends. Memorials: The family suggests that any memorial contributions in lieu of flowers be made to the Arthritis National Research Foundation, www.curearthritis.org; American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org; or St. Barnabas United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, www.sbumc.org, and use the online donation links. Marsha was born in 1939 in Rochester, N.Y., to Elizabeth and Paul Strasenburgh and grew up with older sister, Lucinda, and younger brother, Alex. After receiving degrees at Syracuse University and SUNY Geneseo, Marsha taught elementary students in Lancaster, N.Y., and was an involved member of Lancaster Presbyterian Church. After moving to Texas in 1979, she spent her free time expressing her love of art, crafts and music with the congregation of St. Barnabas United Methodist Church and her grandchildren. A fantastic wife and mother, she was always interested in the well-being and feelings of those around her. She made the most of any opportunity to show how much we all were valued, appreciated and loved with the perfect gift or thoughtful note. Her generosity, attention to detail and kindness will be missed. Survivors: She leaves behind her husband, William; sons, David and Paul; daughters-in-law, Pamela and Sheramie; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Kathryn and Olivia; sister, Lucinda Strasenburgh of Schenectady, N.Y.; brother, Alex of Livonia, N.Y.; and stepmother, Shirley Copeland Strasenburgh of Avon, N.Y. Wade Family Funeral Home Arlington, 817-274-9233
