Marlyce White Garrett passed away peacefully at her home in Arlington on September 16, 2021 while holding the hand of her beloved youngest daughter, Lana Morgan Baughman of Keller, TX (Jeff Baughman) who was looking into her eyes assuring her of the fierce love of her eldest daughter, Lori Morgan Filler (Wilbur Davis) of Austin, TX as well as her grand daughters: Kelsy Filler of Charlottesville, VA; Emily Nelson of Denver, CO; and Hannah Baughman of Keller, TX. Born in Phillips, TX to R.D. White and Mildred Purcell White, she was a Phillips Black Hawks Class of '60 graduate and cheerleader whose dear brother, Blake (Black Hawk & UT Longhorn '71) passed in 1993. She initially went on to further her education at the Colorado Institute for Medical Assistants in Denver, CO right after HS graduation before embarking on careers in addition to motherhood and marriage that ranged from a spokesmodel on TV in Amarillo to coordinating services for MHMR in Fort Worth, special education teacher, legal secretary and culminating in building a multi-million dollar trucking company with her husband of 29 years, Don Garrett who preceded her in death Valentine's Day 2020. Her love of style, music and travel was instilled in and shared with her family all across America and highlights include Italy, France, and Hawaii with her parents, the Bahamas and Marlyce's particular soft spot – touring the south to enjoy the hospitality, beauty and food - especially of New Orleans. She is survived and will be missed by daughter Lisa Woods (Tom Woods) of Denver, Co; our Ryan family in Green River, UT; her best friend and our sister-in-care, Mila Petty; and her cousin, Linda Ward who was more like a sister of Watauga, TX as well. We will continue to celebrate our mother in every dance, laugh and bounce back until we join her at the great dance party in the sky – we love you, Mama!
