On August 24, Mark C. Worley, a servant of God, passed away at age sixty-eight. Born to Wallace and Marjory Worley on October 23, 1953, Mark married Caroline (Latch) Worley before graduating from Dallas Christian College with a degree in ministry. After serving as Youth Minister at First Christian Church in Midland, Texas, for five years, Mark and Caroline moved back to Dallas to help train the next generation of ministers at Dallas Christian College. Over the next 41 years, he devoted his time and energy to teaching, mentoring, discipling, and leading thousands of students, faculty, and staff. Mark served in many capacities, including Director of Admissions, Vice President of Student Development, Interim President (3 different times), and Vice President of Advancement. He has made an immeasurable impact on the students, faculty, staff, alums, and churches associated with DCC. While working for DCC, Mark received a Master’s Degree in Cross-Cultural Studies from Johnson University.
Mark loved the Lord and desired to raise workers for the harvest (Matt. 9:38), which he did by being an example of what a Servant of God looked like. Mark not only raised workers for the harvest at Dallas Christian College but as an elder of Compass Christian Church and in countries around the world: Russia, Africa, India, Guatemala, Jordan, and Israel. Mark’s servant heart could be seen in how he made you feel loved and valued as he reminded you, “There are no insignificant people in the Kingdom of God.” No one knows this truth better than Mark’s family. Mark is preceded in death by his brother Wallace James “Jimmy” Worley Jr. and brother-in-law Bill Harris. Mark is survived by his sister, Cleora Harris, and brother, William (Rosie) Worley. He is also survived by his wife Caroline, children Kyle (Hope) Worley, Zachary (Ashley) Worley, and Aimee (Mark) Phillips; grandchildren: Jordan (Taylor), Elli, Theo, and Annabelle Worley; Mollie, Lincoln, Milo, and Ruthie Worley; Brian and Timothy Phillips, and great-grandchild: Hazleigh Worley.
For those wanting to honor Mark and in place of flowers, please consider donating to the Worley Student Life Center at Dallas Christian College by clicking here.
Please join us to celebrate the Christ-centered life of Mark Worley. Mark’s life pointed toward Christ, so our remembrance of him through worship, scripture, and stories will also point to Jesus. We hope you can join us on Saturday, September 17, at 2 pm at Compass Church in Colleyville, Texas. Reception with ice cream (Mark’s favorite) and an opportunity to share stories will follow.
For those unable to attend in person, please join in attendance online at compasschurch.online.
