In Loving Memory of Marina “Mimi” Sanchez
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marina Sanchez, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. Marina, fondly known as Mimi, left this world on September 12, 2023, leaving behind a void that can never be filled. Born on May 12, 1987, she brought immeasurable joy and laughter to all those who knew her.
Mimi was the youngest and only daughter of Juanita “Janie” Garza and David Loya Sanchez Sr. She was a ray of sunshine in their lives, always brightening their days with her infectious laughter and caring nature. Mimi’s brother, David Loya Sanchez Jr., shared a special bond with her, cherishing the countless memories they created together. She is survived by her grandmother; Maria “Marie” Garza from Beeville, Texas
With her vibrant spirit and vivacious personality, Mimi had a unique ability to make everyone around her feel special. She had a knack for creating funny and endearing nicknames for her loved ones, spreading joy and laughter wherever she went. Mimi’s warm and welcoming voice was like music to the ears, as she effortlessly created an atmosphere of happiness and comfort in her beloved home.
Professionally, Mimi excelled as a administrator at TCC District South Campus Trio Program, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. Her dedication and passion to her work shone through, earning her the respect and admiration of all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Mimi had a zest for life, finding joy in the simplest of things. She had an undeniable affection for Asian cuisine, always delighting in the flavors and aromas of her favorite dishes. As the seasons changed and fall approached, Mimi would eagerly play Christmas music, her infectious enthusiasm spreading cheer to all.
Her love for music extended beyond the holiday season, with Marc Anthony holding a special place in her heart. Mimi playfully referred to him as her husband, often teasing those around her with her lighthearted humor. However, her love extended far beyond music – she had a passion for baking, particularly chocolate chip cookies, and possessed an incredible talent for creating mouthwatering treats.
One of her favorite pastimes was indulging in retail therapy and exploring the aisles of her beloved store, Buc-ee’s, where she would find little treasures and bring home a piece of joy with each visit.
As we mourn the loss of Mimi, let us remember her for the compassionate, celebratory, and spirited person she was. Her presence in our lives will forever be cherished, and her light will continue to shine brightly in our memories.
May her soul find eternal peace and may her memory forever be a blessing to us all.
