ARLINGTON -- Marilyn Maxine Gatchel, 78, beloved wife and mother, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in Arlington.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with Dr. David Mosser officiating. Inurnment: At a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Marilyn was born on July 23, 1934, in Topeka, Kan., to Earl Malcomb Crook and Violet Burgess Crook. She worked for Transworld Airlines and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Marilyn married Donald Gatchel on Feb. 25, 1956, in Topeka.
A resident of Arlington since 1975, she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She worked in the Reserve Center at the Dallas Naval Air Station. Marilyn enjoyed painting, sewing, and crocheting stocking caps and baby blankets for the Arlington Night Shelter for many years.
Survivors: Husband, Donald V. Gatchel of Arlington; daughter, Melissa J. Gatchel-North and husband, Don, of Arlington; son, David B. Gatchel of Southlake; aunt, Lois Burgess of Topeka, Kan.; grandson, Elijah North; brother-in-laws, Stanley Gatchel and wife, Bonny, and Larry D. Gatchel.
