Marilyn Louise Dooley

Marilyn Louise Dooley, 71, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 in Arlington. Funeral: 9:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 11:00 a.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at the funeral home. Marilyn was born on May 18, 1948 in Blanchester, Ohio to William Oscar Lauer and Ethel Imogene Duvall Lauer. Marilyn while growing up in Ohio loved dancing and music. Her and her friends would ride their bicycles everywhere. Sometimes it would include but not limited to from Dayton to Xenia, which was an all day trip. But the thing she loved the most was being the boss, and none of the 7 brothers and sisters question this because well she was the boss and it was the natural thing to do. The funny thing about this was she was the second oldest and still was the boss. Over time her siblings started calling her General Patton maybe in spite at first but later as a title of respect. This was a name that stuck with her till the end, even with nieces and nephews down the line. At an early age she had to learn how to cook. Her fascination with cooking was so great she had tons of cookbooks and several appliances. In fact she had so many of them she was known as the Crock Pot Queen. Her love for dancing and music continued as an adult, at one time in her early twenties she was a caged go-go dancer. But for the most part she worked in the food industry as waitress. Later on she would work for Minyards as a cashier and became lead office cashier balancing the daily paperwork and filing reports. When Minyards went of business, she decided to retire. Over time she developed interest in ceramics, needlepointing, cross-stitching, crocheting and was a vivid audio book listener. This would give her time to work on her most favorite hobby - genealogy. Her ancestral data base has over 200,000 people and goes back to BC years. She was the family historian and everyone would call her with the details of any new additions to the family. She loved going to Vegas with her in-laws yearly. Marilyn was the greatest mom ever. In fact she adopted many friends as their second mom. Now if she loved you, then you then she considered you as family and you could call her mom or Marilyn. On the other hand it was Mrs. Dooley. She died at home peacefully due to complications of liver disease and kidney failure. In summing up Marilyn she was a wonderful loving mom, wife, friend and the best soulmate a husband could have and will be truly missed by those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Lauer; sisters, Norma JoAnn Hughes, Shelea Katherine Caskey; son, Shane Lauer; and uncle, Joseph Alfred Lauer. Survivors: Husband of 35 years, David Dooley; son, Thomas Adrian Dooley and husband, Shawn Ragsdale; daughters, Amy Rose and Rachel Garcia; brothers, Phillip Lauer, Mark Lauer, and Michael Lauer; sisters, Barbara Boone and husband, Byron and Jennifer Jestes; and granddaughter, Alicia Nicole Biggs.
