Marilyn Agnes Oliver

November 8, 1940 — July 23, 2024

Marilyn Agnes Oliver, born on November 8, 1940, in Port Chester, New York, left this mortal life to receive her mansion and place in heaven and be with Jesus on July 23rd, 2024.

Marilyn grew up in Port Chester, New York and moved to Texas in 1975 with her husband and young children to start her “Texas” life. She would say that she was not born in Texas but got here as soon as she could.

Marilyn raised her family in Texas and was a stay-at-home Mom to her three sons. She became a single mom and did everything for her children and was a wonderful and hardworking single mother. Marilyn always wanted to be a nurse and went back to technical school to become a nurses’ aid and started working at Baylor University Medical Center in 1991 and retired in 2008. She was always known for having such a great personality, being so friendly, and was always smiling.

Marilyn grew up Catholic in New York but converted to Baptist when she arrived in Texas. She had strong faith and belief in Jesus and could often be heard singing good old southern Baptist church songs. Even toward the end of her life she would sing songs about the Lord and her faith. Her final church home was with Mayfield Road Baptist Church in Arlington. Over the last two years when travel became difficult, her daughter-in-law, Alyx, would come to her assisted living facility and do online church with her and a few other residents. Even if she couldn’t hear all of the service, she was present and would follow along the best she could and sing the gospel.

Marilyn loved her family and loved seeing the family grow. She loved her boys and she was always talking about and loved spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved doing crafts and would often bring craft projects over when she was watching her grandchildren. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She even unofficially adopted some of her son’s friends and was often referred to as their second mom.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine Macintyre, sister Patricia Sutton. She is survived by her sons Michael, James and wife Tricia, Allan and wife Alyx, eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rest in peace, Marilyn. Your outgoing personality and wonderful smile will always be remembered. Enjoy your amazing reward in heaven and until we meet again, Godspeed.
